About the Club

The first golf club in Tumut was established in 1915 on what is now the site of the sports ground and sections of Riverglades Caravan Park. Unfortunately the area was flood prone and the site was abandoned the following year. A second attempt was made in 1925 when links were developed at the race course. These remained in service until 1932 when the course was relocated to private land at Stoney Creek. Following the release of land by the then State Forestry Commission in 1938 the club moved to it's present location.

Tumut Golf Club was established in 1940. The club's first President, Milton Archer, oversaw the initial construction of a nine-hole sand green course. It is interesting to note that through the war years, with so many men away on active service, there was a total membership of nine men, each of whom was responsible for the upkeep of a hole. Thus began a valuable tradition of voluntary involvement which continues today.

Over time, both the course and the clubhouse have seen significant changes. The clubhouse, which was originally a forestry cottage, has had several renovations including the function hall and the outdoor deck. Meanwhile, the course has seen the inclusion of a second nine, the upgrade to grass greens, and several layout changes.

Today, Tumut Golf Club offers a fantastic course, pro-shop services managed by a PGA qualified professional, and a high-quality clubhouse with dining, gaming and bar services. In recent years the club has invested in a grey water irrigation system, and many areas of course improvement to provide members with an impressive golfing facility.

Tumut Golf Club is an incorporated body governed by a constitution and an elected board.
